Our UMBC community supports a range of Faculty-led Affinity Groups, including committees, associations, and councils, that are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment. These groups work to enhance the recruitment, visibility, and retention of faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds, while also providing professional development, mentoring, and support to help all faculty thrive at UMBC. Below, you will find links to each group to learn more about their mission and opportunities for engagement.
UMBC Affinity Groups are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University’s nondiscrimination policy.

Faculty Candidate Meetings with Affinity Groups
In addition to their contributions to the campus community, members of these groups are available to meet with faculty candidates during the interview process. Search committees, academic departments, and programs should first review the Guidelines for Candidate Meetings with Affinity Groups before submitting a request.
