Affinity Groups

UMBC supports a range of affinity groups that are dedicated to fostering community, connection, professional development, mentoring, and a sense of belonging among faculty and staff across the university. Below, you will find links to each group to learn more about their mission and focus.

Affinity groups are supported through a partnership between the Office of the Provost and the Division of Institutional Equity.

UMBC Affinity Groups are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University’s nondiscrimination policy.

Faculty Candidate Meetings with Affinity Groups

In addition to their contributions to the campus community, faculty members within these groups are available to meet with faculty candidates outside of the formal interview-day schedule as part of the recruitment process. Search committees, academic departments, and programs should first review the Guidelines for Candidate Meetings with Affinity Groups before submitting a request.

This opportunity is currently available for faculty searches only.
